HM Gin is a Melbourne-based distillery co-founded by dynamic father daughter duo Gavin and Amy Shaw. Driven by their passion for craft spirits and unwavering vision to produce Australia’s smoothest gins, they are on a mission to make everyone a gin lover.

Let Gavin and Amy take you on a journey through their distillation process and how they approach flavour experiments that led them to being awarded Australia’s best London Dry Gin at the World Gin Awards in London 2023.

The master class includes flights of three of their award winning gins and a cocktail to take-away. Prizes to be won.

Head distiller and class Host Ashley Mellor has a keen eye for food matching when designing and making her gin. Ashley will take you through a five gin tasting and explain along the way not only how they are made but also the best food matching ideas. She would like to encourage you to take the ideas home and put them into practice with her gins of course!

She puts fun into her spooky packaging especially with the Giselle (Ballet dancer) Pavlova bottle. You will be treated to a small dessert sample to prove her taste matching theory.

Learn, Sip and Blend with a Master Distiller

The Hickson Rd. class will be a little Educational, a bit more Experiential and VERY Social! We will explore briefly the history of Gin and hear how Hickson Rd. Gin is produced right here in Australia from Master Distiller Tim Stones!

You will have a curated tasting of our four core Gin expressions followed by a blending activity. This will surely make you truly appreciate how complicated it is to make a well balanced gin! You will be given droppers of concentrated botanical distillates and some neutral spirit to build a custom gin flavour profile that suits your personal palate!

Frequently Asked Questions

Your ticket grants you entry to the tasting session specified on your ticket and includes a tote bag for take-home purchases. All distillers will be running tastings throughout the session, which is included in your ticket price.

There is no limit to the amount of gins you can sample however we highly suggest that you pace yourself over the 3 hour session. The distillers will pour a small sample of gin into your tasting glass and you can either add your own Long Rays mixer or sample it neat. There will also be a spittoon at each stand should you wish to mouth sample only.

Drunken and abusive behaviour will not be tollerated and at our discretion anyone deemed to be intoxicated will be escorted from the venue.

If you have lost or are having trouble finding your ticket, go to Eventbrite and login with your email address and password. You will be able to resend your ticket/s to your email address or print them out from your account. Please contact hello@ginevents.com.au if you are still having issues.

Yes, you can give your ticket to whoever you like. There is no need to change the name on the ticket. They will not be refused entry if they are not the person named on the ticket.

All attendees must be 18 years or older and must have a ticket for the event.

Your ticket will include the start time and duration of your tasting session. This information is also available on Eventbrite. If you are late, you will not be allowed to stay for the following session. Please note that final samples will be served 15 minutes prior to the end of the session to give you time to finish your drinks, finalise your purchases, and make your way to the exit.

Yes! You may buy bottles of gin from the distillers to enjoy at home.

Water, tonic and soda are included in the ticket and will be available during the tasting sessions.

Card is preferred for purchases at the event, and some of our events are completely cashless. All distillers and food vendors will accept EFTPOS payments.

Yes, our events are wheelchair accessible. Events taking place in multi-level buildings will have lifts available if needed.

Given that this is a licensed event, we do recommend utilising public transport to get to the venue and to get home. Some venues will have parking available. Please check the websites of our venue partners for further details, availability and cost.

Refunds are only issued if you request a refund 30 days prior to the event or if the event is cancelled. If you can no longer attend, you may give or sell your ticket to another person. Tickets are fully transferable for the same session on the scheduled day. To request a refund go to your Eventbrite accounts dashboard to request a refund.
